High-value trial alerts in Slack

Set a plan price threshold and get a Slack message when a trial at or above it starts, plus alerts for failed captures, lost holds and disputes.

How it works

  1. You paste a Slack incoming-webhook URL into your settings. Only https://hooks.slack.com/services/... addresses are accepted, and the stored URL is shown masked.
  2. You set a high-value threshold as an amount. With no threshold set, no high-value alerts are sent.
  3. When a buyer signs up and the card hold is confirmed, TrialValid compares the plan price with your threshold. At or above it, one Slack message is posted for that trial.
  4. The same webhook carries three more alerts: a capture that failed on every attempt, a hold that was lost, and a dispute that was opened.

Why it works

Your biggest trials are the ones worth a personal look, and the problems around money are the ones you want to hear about the same day. A Slack message reaches you where you already work, so there is no dashboard to check.

An alert is sent once per trial and per event. A retried job cannot post the same high-value message twice.

Traditional approach versus this

Checking by handWith Slack alerts
Spotting a large trialScan the Stripe dashboardA message when the trial starts
Learning a capture failedFind out when revenue looks lowA message after the last attempt fails
Learning a hold was lostFind out when the charge does not arriveA message when the hold cannot be renewed

Controls

  • You choose the threshold and can clear it to turn high-value alerts off.
  • You supply and can replace the Slack webhook URL. TrialValid posts nothing anywhere else.
  • The webhook URL is stored as a secret and shown masked.
  • Each trial triggers at most one high-value alert.
What triggers a high-value alert?

A trial whose plan price is at or above your threshold, once its card hold is confirmed. Each trial alerts at most once.

Which other events post to Slack?

A capture that failed on every attempt, a hold that was lost, and a dispute that was opened.

What happens if I set no threshold?

High-value alerts stay off. The capture, hold and dispute alerts are separate and still go to the same webhook.

Which Slack addresses can I use?

Incoming-webhook URLs that start with https://hooks.slack.com/services/. Any other address is rejected.
