| What it is | Subscription analytics. It calculates MRR, ARR, churn and lifetime value from your billing data and adds a built-in CRM and scheduled reports. |
| What it costs (checked 19 Oct 2026) | Free up to $10K MRR. Starter runs $57 to $707 a month billed yearly ($69 to $849 billed monthly). Pro runs $99 to $1,199 billed yearly. Enterprise starts at $19,900 a year. |
| Who built it, per its own company page | ChartMogul, which calls itself independent and profitable, more than 11 years old, with around 60 people. |
| Who it suits | SaaS founders and operators who bill through Stripe, Chargebee or a similar system and want subscription numbers they can defend without a spreadsheet. |
| Verdict | A free entry point for early revenue, then a price that follows the recurring revenue it tracks. Worth testing once hand-built metrics start to cost real time. |
What ChartMogul is
ChartMogul reads the subscriptions and invoices in your billing system and works out the numbers a subscription business is judged on: monthly and annual recurring revenue, churn, expansion, contraction and customer lifetime value. The pitch on its pricing page is one source of truth for those figures, even when billing is messy.
It sits beside your billing system rather than replacing it. You connect a source such as Stripe or Chargebee, or send your own data through the API, CSV uploads, Google Sheets, n8n or Zapier, and ChartMogul does the reconciliation that would otherwise live in a spreadsheet.
The page also lists a CRM inside the product, so conversations and deals can sit next to the revenue they relate to. That is the part that separates it from a pure reporting dashboard.
Features worth knowing
- MRR, ARR, churn and lifetime value calculated automatically, with customer-level movement history showing expansion, contraction and churn.
- Segmentation of any metric by plan, country or cohort, and saved custom reports.
- Scheduled email and Slack updates, and shareable report snapshots.
- A revenue forecast model and industry benchmarks for companies at a similar stage.
- Billing sources from ChartMogul itself, such as Stripe and Chargebee, plus partner-built ones such as Paddle and Xero, and any number of custom or third-party sources on the paid ladder.
- A REST API, an MCP server and CSV exports; data migration and onboarding help is offered on top.
Who is behind it
ChartMogul's company page says the company exists to help SaaS businesses measure, understand and improve their subscription performance. Its team is about 60 people spread over North America, Europe and Asia, with operations in the UK, Germany, Canada and South Korea.
The same page describes the company as independent, seed-strapped and profitable, in operation for more than 11 years. It also says it publishes reports and research for SaaS founders, which is where the conversion benchmark quoted further down comes from.
Pricing as the vendor states it
ChartMogul prices by the annual recurring revenue it tracks. The page shows a slider and seven price steps for Starter and for Pro, each in a monthly and a yearly billing version. We read the page on 19 Oct 2026 and list the first, middle and last step below; the text we read does not tie each step to an ARR figure, so none is assumed here.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly | What the page lists |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Up to $10K MRR (the plan table says up to $120K ARR), unlimited team members, 1 billing source |
| Starter, step 1 of 7 | $69 | $57 | Up to 3 team members, 1 billing system plus 2 custom or third-party sources |
| Starter, step 4 of 7 | $295 | $245 | Same feature set as step 1 |
| Starter, step 7 of 7 | $849 | $707 | Same feature set as step 1 |
| Pro, step 1 of 7 | $119 | $99 | Unlimited team members, several billing systems in one view, two-way CRM sync, warehouse push |
| Pro, step 4 of 7 | $539 | $449 | Same feature set as step 1 |
| Pro, step 7 of 7 | $1,439 | $1,199 | Same feature set as step 1 |
| Enterprise | From $19,900 a year | Annual contract | For companies over $10M ARR; adds BI workflows and dedicated expert support |
The yearly saving works out to 17.4% on the first Starter step and 16.7% on the last Pro step, in line with the 17% the page advertises.
The FAQ describes a startup program that gives $50 off each month of a paid plan for 12 months, $600 in all. When tracked ARR grows past a plan's limit, the page says you move to the next tier.
Alternatives
Baremetrics, the revenue reports inside Stripe, and a spreadsheet you maintain yourself are the usual comparisons. Our comparison pages cover tools that touch trial billing directly.
Who ChartMogul fits
- A founder with a few paying customers who wants real MRR and churn numbers while revenue is still inside the free tier.
- A small team that bills through one system and needs reports for a board or an investor without building them by hand.
- A company with several billing systems or one-off payments, where the Pro tier lets multiple systems feed one view.
- Not a fit if you only want a handful of numbers once a quarter; a spreadsheet costs less.
Is it worth it
The free tier removes the risk of testing it on early revenue, and the paid ladder is tied to recurring revenue tracked, so the bill rises as the business grows rather than as the team does. Starter caps the team at 3 people; Pro lifts that.
The harder question is whether you will use the extras. A built-in CRM and warehouse sync matter to some teams and are noise to others. If the need is just reliable MRR and churn, the lower Starter steps are the comparison point.
ChartMogul and a card-backed trial
ChartMogul's own free trial runs 14 days and, per its FAQ, needs no credit card. The company's published Conversion Report, which we keep in our benchmarks file, found a median free-to-paid rate of 8% across 200 products and 30% for trials that require a card (read 18 Oct 2026). Those are different groups of products, so treat them as context and not as a forecast for yours.
A metrics tool reports on trials after they exist. A card hold decides who starts one: TrialValid places the hold at sign-up and begins the trial only when the card can cover the price. To turn your own numbers into a trial-to-paid rate, use the trial conversion calculator.

Questions
Is ChartMogul free?
There is a Free plan for companies up to $10K MRR, which the plan table also states as up to $120K ARR. Paid plans start once tracked revenue passes that limit, and a 14-day trial of the paid plans needs no card.
How does ChartMogul decide which plan I pay for?
The page says pricing follows the annual recurring revenue tracked in the product, calculated from active subscription data. When that figure grows past a plan limit you are moved to the next tier.
Does ChartMogul replace my billing system?
No. It connects to a billing source such as Stripe or Chargebee, or to your own data through the API or CSV, and reports on it. The billing itself stays where it is.
