# Plans and MRR

The lower edge of a band is inclusive and the upper edge exclusive, so exactly $10,000 of MRR is on Growth. Unknown MRR is treated as the lowest band, the Starter plan.

## Starting and managing your plan

You start and manage your plan with the API key you get when your account is set up. Connect Stripe first, so your MRR is known. Then `POST /v1/billing/checkout` returns a Stripe Checkout link for Starter: the $1 trial fee is charged now and $29 a month when the trial ends, renewing every month until you cancel. `POST /v1/billing/portal` opens your Stripe billing page, where you change the card, read invoices or cancel, and `GET /v1/billing` shows your plan, your trial and the refund window.

## How MRR is counted

- Only subscriptions with status `active` count. Trialing, past due, paused and canceled ones do not.
- Only USD counts. Other currencies are listed, never converted.
- Each subscription is its flat licensed items, unit amount times quantity, as a monthly equivalent: a day is 30 days, a week is 52/12 weeks, a year is 12 months, rounded half up to a cent.
- Tiered, metered, packaged and mixed-interval items are counted as unpriced and left out. Discounts and taxes are ignored, so the figure is list price.
- Up to 20 pages of subscriptions are read. Hitting the limit marks the figure as a lower bound.

## When it is rechecked

The figure is read when you connect Stripe, and again about every 7 days when you view your plan. A seller who never views their plan is not rechecked.
